Amber’s Story
In 2011, Amber first entertained the idea of being a surrogate for two close friends who were exploring alternative paths to becoming parents. When her friends decided not to have children, Amber’s attention shifted to raising her own family.
Eight years and two children later, Amber and her husband were happy with the size of their family and decided it was complete. Amber was at peace with the idea of not having any more children of her own, but still felt the itch to experience pregnancy one more time. She decided to apply to be a surrogate, and as fate would have it, she was matched with the perfect couple and embarked on the journey to helping create a new family.
The Challenge
The logistics of being a surrogate, while rewarding, were not easy. Preliminary records release, physical examinations, medications, and forms—the process is very labor-intensive! Amber worked with a surrogacy agency that recommended her to Katharine Hamilton and Embaby Fertility Law, PLLC.
The Solution
Katharine supported Amber in navigating every legality, of which there were many! Katharine helped with all the intricacies of the surrogacy journey and was an exceptional resource to have. Amber felt confident knowing she was partnered with an attorney specializing in fertility law, ensuring all of Amber’s interests and rights were well protected.
Amber describes being a surrogate as an incredible experience, not only for herself but also for her family.
“I helped create a family, but also felt like I added three more members to mine. The Intended Parents and their baby will forever hold a special place in my life. The best way to describe the process would be ‘joyful’ — I continue to feel tremendous gratitude for the opportunity and honor of being a gestational surrogate. And Katharine’s legal help made the whole journey possible.”
