Cassie & Jessie’s Story
The Challenge
For years, Cassie and Jessie wanted to be moms together. They had several unsuccessful attempts at intrauterine insemination (“IUI”), as well as a failed attempt at in vitro fertilization (“IVF”). The couple then turned to adoption and optimistically joined with a national private adoption agency; however, seven months and $14,000 into the process, Cassie received a devastating, impersonal email that the company had filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy. The company disappeared overnight and never responded to their emails or phone calls. The couple felt crushed, and started to believe that parenthood might be out of their reach.
Then, one fairy-tale of a day, Cassie and Jessie received an astonishing and welcome message from a friend. Their friend knew of a local couple who had excess frozen embryos. The donor couple wanted to meet with them to discuss private embryo donation.
Our Solution
As Cassie and Jessie began the process of adopting four frozen embryos, they met with Katharine Hamilton for legal counsel. After learning of their family's needs, Katharine drafted an embryo donation agreement, and then assisted them with not just one, but two separate prebirth orders for their two children.
The Results — A Dream Come True
Through IVF, their first daughter was born in 2018. Her little sister joined them in 2021.
“Katharine Hamilton provided invaluable insight and skill in helping us navigate the legalities of a very nuanced situation. The process felt seamless, and we were relieved to have the expertise of someone with the knowledge and experience of fertility law. We feel blessed with our two amazing children, and grateful for the reality and pathway to embryo donation that Embaby Fertility Law, PLLC helped us achieve.”
